Professor Md. Saiful Islam Pathana veteran pharmacist has beenteaching pharmaceutical technology in the Department of Pharmacy, State University of Bangladesh(SUB) since 2006. Before joining SUB he served as Associate Professor & Dean (acting) at Dhaka International University (DIU) and also as Assistant Professor at Gono bishwabidyalay, Savar, Dhaka. Currently he is the Head, Department of Pharmacy at SUB.He earned his B. Pharm (Hons.) degree from the prestigious Department of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka & received post-graduation from the same university and stood first class first. Prof. Pathan an industrial pharmacist has also served for different reputed pharmaceutical industries including Opsonin Pharma.Ltd, Pharmadesh Laboratories Ltd, General Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Jayson Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Beximco Pharma Ltd. and Gonoshasthya Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Dhaka in different managerial positions. In addition to this he also served as plant manager in Essential Drugs Co. Ltd.(EDCL), Bogra & Dhaka, a government owned company. His industrial and academic exposure is more than two decades. He presented research paper in the 11th international symposium on & acirc; & #128; & #152;Microencapsulation & acirc; & # 128; & #153; held in Bangkok, Thailand, and research paper at the annual meeting of AAPS in poster session at Indiana,USA. Prof. Pathan attended as chairperson in the ISE SFEC 2018 Dhaka congress on â & # 128;œEthnopharmacology & Drug Development: Innovation Meets Traditionâ & # 128; & # 157; at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka He was an associate writer of & acirc ;& # 128;& # 152; Shadharan Oshud Bigganâ & #128; & #153;-1st edition published by Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh and involved in academic activities of Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh. He is a co-author of & acirc; & #128; &# 156; Improving Quality of Life: In Kidney Diseaseâ & # 128 ;& #157;. He is on the editorial board of Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Journal (BPJ). Hehas published more than 8 research articles in different national and international journals.His pioneering research in Bangladesh is on â & #128; & #152; Oral Thin Filmâ & #128; & # 153;, a novel drug delivery system.His research interest is in formulation and drug delivery. Prof. Pathan is widely involved in different academic and professional activitiesand member of different professional organization including member, executive committee of Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society & Life member of Dhaka University Registered Graduate Association, Life and executive committee member of Dhaka University Pharmacy Alumni Association (DUPAA) & formerly Executive Committee member, Dhaka University Pharmacy Graduate Association. He was also an examiner in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka and in the Department of Pharmacy, Jahangirnagar University. Hewas a resource person in different seminar and workshop organized by Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society, WHO and Drugs Administration, Govt. of Bangladesh. He participated in many national & international seminar including Workshop sponsored by FIP, IPA and WHO in India, and GAE-NUS, Department of Pharmacy, National University of Singapore (NUS). Prof. Pathan was born in Kishoreganj in a respectable Muslim family.
