Shahreen Mukashafat Semontee

Shahreen M. Semontee is a highly motivated young architect who earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Following her graduation, she was awarded a research fellowship at the Platform of Community Action and Architecture to undertake an action research project. Her involvement in the project, which centered on the low-income community, sparked her interest in humanitarian architecture and participatory design processes. In addition to her research work, Semontee has also worked as an adjunct faculty member at Fareast International University (2020-2021) and as a landscape architect at NAWE Infrastructure Ltd (2021-2022). Her contributions to various public space design projects have deepened her understanding of landscape urbanism and resilience through design. Throughout her academic and professional career, Semontee has garnered international recognition for her outstanding achievements. She was the winner of the highly esteemed Annual International Berkeley Prize in 2019, as well as achieved first prize in the professional category of the ARCASIA ACGSA Design Competition in 2021. She was also honored with an Honorable Mention for the Architectural Idea Competition: 'Space for....' by ArchTwist and was shortlisted in the top 20 for the Sustainable Architecture 2021 competition hosted by Archiol, among others. Semontee has participated in numerous national-international conferences, workshops, and seminars focusing on public space design and urban resilience issues. She is passionate about exploring the interplay between architecture and society, with specific interests in climate change, urban resilience, and landscape urbanism. Currently serving as a lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the State University of Bangladesh, Semontee is dedicated to furthering her growth and development as a professional, academic, and researcher. She is committed to leveraging her expertise to shape the next generation of architects and to contribute to society through innovative and impactful research.
