Azka Eshita is an Assistant professor in the Department of Architecture, State University of Bangladesh. She is responsible for Chair of Course planning, Course offering and Routine Committee of the Department since 2020. She is also serving as Assistant proctor of State University of Bangladesh since February, 2022. She explores her career in architectural and urban design in parallel with teaching. Her research interests are particularly in urban sociology and politics of public space. She has attended and participated in number of international workshops and conferences.
Azka obtained her B.Arch degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and holds an M.Sc degree in Sustainable Urban Planning and design from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden obtaining the prestigious Swedish Study Institute Study Scholarship. Azka worked as an assistant architect at Saif ul Haque Sthapati (SHS) (2012-2014) and In-house architect at Headoffice Communication (2014-2015) before pursuing her career as an academic (2015). At SHS, she worked as project architect of various building projects including Arcadia Education Project which won prestigious The Aga Khan Award for Architecture, 2018-2019 Cycle. She has worked as local Urban Design Consultant for Superwien Urbanism zt gmbh for the World-bank funded project “Participatory Urban Design'' in Shahjahanpur Jheel, Dhaka which is part of Dhaka City Neighborhood Upgrading project (DCNUP) by Dhaka South City Corporation (2020-2021).
